No kidding, amazing joint.

Here’s the second post in my friend Annamarie’s Food & Fashion project. For this one, we hit up one of my favorite lunch spots in NYC - Luke’s Lobster Roll. So tasty.
Also btw must give Anna props for making one of the coolest t-shirts ever.

Welcome to Food & Fashion, a project where I, along with my good friend and fellow food lover Aziz Ansari, hit up five of our favorite restaurants in NYC and dressed for the occasion. Today’s post is about our trip to Luke’s Lobster in the East Village.  For this lunch, Aziz and I broke out our best boating gear and went to town on some serious seafood.  Read below for a full recap of our delicious meal and a breakdown of our looks.  Photos by Noah Kalina.  Except for the food shot, which Aziz took randomly when he had a lobster roll one day.

AALobster roll debates are fierce. I personally am not a fan of the ton of mayo, lobster salad style lobster roll. That’s why Luke’s is right up my alley. The roll is done Maine style, with a minimal amount of mayo and a dash of secret spices. Add a delicious toasted, buttery bun and you’ve got my favorite lobster roll in NYC. One of these lobster rolls with a bag of salt and pepper chips is an amazing summer lunch. Side note - after downing these lobster rolls we stumbled into the soft opening for the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop which is down the street. I had an amazing ice cream called the Salty Pimp. The next day I was walking down the street and saw a woman who I was 90% sure served me the ice cream, but I was too scared to risk mistakenly yelling “Hey you work at the BIG GAY ICE CREAM SHOP RIGHT?”

AMYou can probably get to me eat anything if it has butter on it, not that anyone has to “get me” to eat a Luke’s lobster roll. These things are fucking delicious and I would gladly eat them for all meals.  I had only eaten mayo based lobster rolls until very recently when Aziz shed some light onto my dark lobster roll world by giving me a Luke’s gift certificate.  I did a lot of work for Aziz this summer. I could make fun of him for giving me a gift certificate as a thank you, but I won’t.   Instead, I will only stress that Luke’s makes the most delicious lobster roll you will ever eat. Oh what, you thought I’d be full after the lobster roll?  YOU THOUGHT WRONG!  I downed a cup of olive oil ice cream with sea salt at the Big Gay Ice Cream like a champ. Seriously, go there. It just opened and it’s right down the street from Luke’s.

This is my go-to sailor’s outfit, which I obviously wear all the time because I captain A LOT of yachts.  On this day I learned that it is not a good idea to wear high-wasted shorts and a tight shirt when you are planning to stuff your face with lobster rolls and ice cream. AA is wearing:Jacket - Band of OutsidersPolo - Band of OutsidersPants - Band of OutsidersShoes - Sperry Top SidersGlasses - Persols AM is wearing:Shirt - BDGShorts - CooperativeShoes - Aldo
